What's your experience with Apple's M1 chip with REAPER? With plugins in general?

My mac mini is no longer able to keep up with my projects. A lot of sputtering. I’m thinking it’s prolly time to upgrade my computer.

So the title says it all. Just wondering what peoples’ experiences are with Apple’s M1 chip with REAPER.

Also, is the M1 ready from prime time with VST and AU plugins? Compatibility issues?

Recently, my wonderful wife of 29 years gifted me a new Macbook Pro M1 and a UAD Twin X Quad Interface. After many years, my faithful Windows machine was starting to show its age, and was struggling with larger mix projects (100 + tracks). Thanks for this, Andrew. I “thought” I remembered a thread on this but couldn’t find it. I searched the forums for M1 and it said my search term was too short. Then I searched M1 chip and got nothing. I needed to search “M1 report.” Bingo!

I have a couple questions, but I’m gonna post it on that thread. If anyone else has comments or questions on this, go over there. Consider this thread DEAD!
