I set mine to peak between 12 & 15 dB below.
Basically, whatever Ethan says, just do it. You’ll save yourself a whole load of shit.
Kind of like “Simon says”, but with audio gear.
He’s right in his article. What he fails to mention is the headroom you definitely need for mastering. If you record uyp at the top, there’s nothing there, unless the mastering house lowers the level of everything to create headroom. Is that the same as having original headroom. Buggered if I know.
