Take My Hand, Precious Lord - 1938

“Take My Hand, Precious Lord” (a.k.a. “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”) is a gospel song. The lyrics were written by Thomas A. Dorsey, who also adapted the melody.

I dedicate this song to all suffering peoples of our world, from war, hunger, abuse, loss of loved ones, loneliness, poverty, ignorance, and all forms of pain.

Feedback is very much appreciated.
Looking forward to all the goodness and humbling moments of 2023!!!

Hey Rene! Great stuff

I’m listening on small laptop speakers, so I can’t be sure, but it’s sounds like there’s pretty heavy compression on the guitar. (Again, listening on a laptop PC so take that as a grain of salt) What did you do for mic placement on this? Was it recorded, touched up, then re-sync’d to phone video?

Hi @Jonathan ,
Thanks for the great feedback.
I do have some compression, but not much, and it is from my Yamaha mixer.
No touch up, and not addition after recording “live”.

Here is my recording set-up:
2 mics; Shure SM-58 (guitar), and Ear Trumpet Labs “Edwina” (vocals)
INTO - Yamaha MG10FX Mixer (I am using room reverb #6)
INTO - UAD Volt 2/76 Audio Interface (love the built-in compressor and vintage mic preamp)
INTO - IMAC, I am using Quick Time Player recording a movie

The mics are both able to record the guitar and vocals, they are just directed to guitar and vocals.
Pls let me know when you are able to listen on your system.
Respectfully,
Rene
