Here are two songs that share the same music, they are a true autobiographical story. I consider this the blues, but I musically have my own approach. They are oversimplified, but maybe real blues enthusiasts could buttress the songs in exciting ways!
Skin Doctor by Steve Bancroft
I went to see the skin doctor
To see what was growing on me
I went to see the skin doctor
To see what was growing on me
I’d never been before in my life
Something could be the end of me
I’d never been before in my life
Something could be the end of me
To get there in plenty of time
I decided to pay the toll
To get there in plenty of time
I decided to pay the toll
I’m hardly ever in a hurry
I was worried I’d lost some control
I’m hardly ever in a hurry
I was worried I’d lost some control
As soon as I arrived
They saw me right away
As soon as I arrived
They saw me right away
He looked at each spot with a magnifying glass
And he told me all but three were OK
He looked at each spot with a magnifying glass
And he told me all but three were OK
He said two on your back are suspicious
And one on your neck is just weird
He said two on your back are suspicious
And one on your neck is just weird
I’ll send them all in to be tested
It wasn’t as bad as I feared
I’ll send them all in to be tested
It wasn’t as bad as I feared
He drew circles around them with a sharpie
So the nurse would know where to give me shots
He drew circles around them with a sharpie
So the nurse would know where to give me shots
It was just a little pin prick
It turned out it was the worst part
It was just a little pin prick
It turned out it was the worst part
He cut them all off with a razor blade
I didn’t even feel a thing at all
He cut them all off with a razor blade
I didn’t even feel a thing at all
It took just a minute all total
And neosporin and a bandaid and that was all
It took just a minute all total
And neosporin and a bandaid and that was all
I went to see the skin doctor
To see what was growing on me
I went to see the skin doctor
To see what was growing on me
I’d never been before in my life
Something could be the end of me
I’d never been before in my life
Something could be the end of me
Cut It Out by Steve Bancroft
I’m back to see the skin doctor
My test results had just come in
They called me on the telephone
And told me I had to see them again
They said the one on my neck was weird but OK
But one on my back was basal carcinoma
They’d cut it out once my insurance approved
But at least it wasn’t melanoma
Cut it out
I said cut it out
Just get rid of it
Cut it out cut it out
I don’t want no part it
I
laid on my stomach I was fully awake
And the nurse gave me local anesthesia
She shot me up with a dozen syringes
And I knew they were numbing a larger area
Before she began she turned on some music
It was primarily Lionel Richie
There was a spanish DJ in the occasional break
I suppose it was all meant to calm me
She said it would take a few minutes
For the area to become completely numb
So I laid there alone listening to Endless Love
Waiting for Doctor Suares to come
A song or two later he came in the room
Dressed like a surgeon all in green
I felt a little pressure but barely any pain
And as he did his thing he started to sing
It didn’t take long for him to cut it out
I really couldn’t feel a thing
But soon I heard bursts of a buzzing sound
And I could smell that my flesh was burning
He stitched me up while he and his nurse
Discussed his upcoming trip to London
And he quickly left as I finally got up
And the nurse showed me what he had done
It was a piece of my skin about three inches long
Shaped like a one inch wide football
A quarter inch thick and they would send it off
To make sure that they got it all
Now I’m taking my pills and not drinking for 5 days
With fresh bandages twice a day thanks to my wife
I finally saw a picture she took on her phone
It looked like I’d been stabbed in the back with a knife
Cut it out
I said cut it out
Just make it gone for sure
Cut it out cut it out
I don’t want to come back no more
Cut it out
I said cut it out
Just get rid of it
Cut it out cut it out
I don’t want no part it
