I usually like the idea of buying cheap stuff and making it work, but one area where I just haven’t found a cheap usable product is in shotgun mics. Every cheap (and even mid priced) shotgun mic I’ve ever used has been unusable sucky. Tons of noise and terrible sound in general. I get that the nature of a shotgun mic will inevitably color the sound a lot, but most of them that I’ve used have had a generally nasty tone to them.
Does anybody know of a decent shotgun mic that doesn’t suck?
