I did a big reno this last summer on the studio and got the new studio up and functional. I expected to get the finishing done by December however we have been busier than ever and now I am shooting for June. Everything left to do is finishing type work. I thought would post the ongoing cosmetics as I finish them. My control room has a “Mad Men” type vibe. I’ve got the old Westinghouse TV and old video cameras in it. I spent yesterday putting the leather details on the arm and top piece of my console and build a coffee table out of an old RCA radio cabinet. The Red leather arm on the console matches the red leather couch. I have the fabric to finish the walls ordered in. Can’t wait to get that done:)
Looks fabulous Paul! Very cool idea to use that old radio for a coffee table!
Wow! Thsts a serious console dude!
Looks great
All you need now is a dog curled up under the console and you’re good to go!
Did a Little more fabric hanging today. It takes a while but its worth it. My steamer died so I’ll need to get a new one to take out the wrinkles in the fabric. After the fabric is all hung I have trim to put on the seams. It is starting to come together though. I am going to get another set of speaker stands for my near field Monitors tomorrow and then I’ll get them reinstalled. I need to build full sized absorbers for the windows as well. I am putting a vinyl wrap on the outside of the glass so it doesn’t look stupid outside:)
I have a parrot who sometimes sits on my shoulder or in the window when I record. He can be a noisy little guy. Somehow he has made it onto every album I’ve ever recorded:)
Photo please!!! This I gotta see.
Arrrrrrr, matey!
Fuck the console, a parrot on ones shoulder is THE coolest mixing thing in the world ever.
Do you find your mixes have a lot of echo?! Lol
Haaaaa! Now that’s what I call an analog echo
Yeah i just said that
Get your own jokes boy lol
Then again i suppose you were just reapeating me!!!
And therein lies the joke.
I thank you… i’m here all week and avaiable for kids party’s lol
Ding ding ding!
You can say that again.
That would be seriously cool to train the parrot to be an actual echo on a track. haha!
Looks awesome Paul !
What are you using for monitors in that last picture ?
Those are JBL home theatre speakers. I’ve used them for years and they are wonderful. They have a bit of a scooped frequency curve in the low mids. My KRK’s are the opposite with the most congested low mids ever:)
