I put a new song in my music website called “I Felt Your Power”; it’s the song on top. Please tell me how you like the song and how it can be improved, and I will return the favor (leave me a link if you don’t have a recent thread). Here is my link:
I really like the riff and groove, especially in the beginning and early parts of the song. The vocals remind me of Alice Cooper a bit, which I also find cool. It could have been an early Alice Cooper song in some ways. There’s also a bit of Punk energy in the riff and attitude, but still compatible with the Alice Cooper theme IMO (he was way ahead of his time).
At almost 5 minutes long, I might suggest a bit shorter length might help attention spans for the average listeners (i.e. “pop sensibility”). Perhaps a “radio edit version” while keeping this original one you have here. But this one is certainly interesting and fun if listeners stick with it.
I do think you need to keep a ‘bridge’ and solo part in somewhere, if you choose to do a radio edit version. The “space jam” and guitar solo from 1:30 to 2:30 is cool, and plays a part in extending the song length. The synth solo from 3:50 to End also extends the song length a good bit. The synth solo is cool! Reminds me of Emerson, Lake and Palmer a good bit, as well as Oz Knozz (a relatively obscure band in the mid-70’s).
If it’s possible to edit the long jam parts down to a radio edit, it might be something to consider. I know it can be difficult. I tend to get attached to what I record, even if I think sometimes it goes “over the top”.
I’m curious what you think of this one. It’s not a full song … more like a TV series theme song or something. So it’s pretty short. I enjoyed making it though. From a few years ago.
Lots of energy and quirky hooks in this one. I’m hearing a little Iggy Pop from the Stooges era in there. Only mix suggestions I might have are the drums and guitars sound a little “distant” to me in relation to the vocals, which to me are a little bit out front, causing the mix to lose a little denseness, but that’s just personal preference.
Nice job!
Intro just kinda starts, no buildup, it kinda coasts like that into the verse. Perhaps a bit more dynamics during mixing will do it.
I think it could use a few more bpm’s of speed
Same thing with chorus a little dynamic buildup would be nice
Drums are kinda lost in the mix
Bass solo jam out session is super cool, like the Zappa solo guitar section, going back into verse riff kinda just walks into that, no dynamic shift there, perhaps short stop and that synth swoosh would be more interesting to hear.
I like in general the lo fi feel of the vocals, half distorted like a 60s voice channel. Those tom parts under the distorted guitars need ot go up maybe ride the faders there.
Synth solo with bass jamming under it is pretty cool.
No buildup to the ending either, just kinda stops there.
My 20c
