Re-played everything and kept the LV’s… Made BGVs out of the main vox track and added gtr, bass, keys and drums.
This is for another Indaba remix contest… But I don’t think a monster 4 on the floor kick, glitchy samples and a wobble bass fits the lyrical content. But I’m sure there will be plenty of those to come…
Have fun bashing

Interesting piece…It feels quite abstract, which is intriguing and a little unsettling at the same time…
I’m finding the midrange in the area of the vocals to be quite cluttered sounding, competing with the lead guitar. The vocals aren’t really clear to me, and I can’t really make out what the vocalist is saying on first listen, which may explain why it strikes me as a bit abstract. I’m not sure if that was intentional or not…
FWIW, I would like to hear the guitar as more ambient and less “in your face”. At present the guitar seems to take centre stage, whereas to my mind, the vocal should hold that place.
Kudos on the re-imagining.
Unsettling is good… cool!
Agreed on the vox… They were a processed stereo stem and had a lot of content in the “hurt” range. I toned them down a little on my mono bounce but tried to keep a little of the hurt in them. The intelligibility didn’t suffer all that much from my moves. But I would have liked to have the raw tracks so I could hear what he’s saying, too… But the main culprit was the lead gtr for sure…
I tend to bury my leads most of the time. And in this case my original intent was for it to be ALL ambient. I even printed it 100%wet with a deep 250 plate. As I went along, I started to blend the dry back in more and more and that’s where I went wrong… I backed it down quite a bit and am much happier with it myself… Thanks for that. :beerbang: I got the BGVs out of the way a bit, too in the verses. I think that helps.
Nice song and im loving the punchiness of the drums. the mix sounds really well balanced.
The vocals could use a bit more low end IMO. you may wanna tame a bit of the high pass to give the vocals some more body.
The lead guitars also sound good but is sounding thin. some more low end also wouldnt hurt.
Aside from those, I think youre on the right track. thanks for letting us listen and I hope this helped in some way. cheers!
