Mixed by me. Thanks for listening.
Great work Mister A! I am totally digging the sort of funk vibe of this piece, reminds me of classic early to mid-70s music.
Excellent performances throughout. Compositionally, that first rhythmic jam lasts for over two minutes with no lyrics, and just great rhythm jamming-- would love to hear a solo of some kind (cries out for a horn section IMO!). Same deal in the last minute-plus… needs something to attract the listener’s interest (the normal listener, that is… I could dig on that kind of jamming all damn day.) The ending is rather abrupt too, if it’s going to have a sudden end I would like to hear it telegraphed just a bit with some kind of drum move perhaps-- or if a soloing instrument is added, that can clue the listener in that The End Is Near.
Love the separation on the rhythmic guitars, and the sound of the drum kit. I think I’d like to hear the bass a bit more prominently, it’s pretty subdued, and I think the mix would be improved if we could hear it working with the kick drum more-- the playing is great. And the keyboards are placed really well, I love that too.
Are you the artist as well as the mixer? If not, who is this? Very talented work to be sure.
Great Job!!!
Is it just me or is the whole mix “leaning to the left”. Maybe it’s just the one gtr. But I’m hearing the drums heavy on the left as well.
I had fun with those tracks myself. I tried to do it like I was a hole in the wall studio (once with an ssl and another with an API) an a few compressors and eq. And one common plate verb. It was a cool experiment. But your mix is way better…
have fun

I think @rjwillow the snare and the guitar are on the left are definitely giving a left strong feel. Also i think that the bass could cut through a little more. Maybe just pushing the fader would do it but with a song like this it would not hurt to have mix some distorted bass in there and that would help it to push through. Otherwise i am really digging the sound you got going on.
Cool mix Arber! I get a strong 70s vibe there, the tones and mix are what I would expect from a mix of that era. Nicely done! I don’t mind the lopsided mix actually, this makes it even more authentic!
Thanks, Patrick. I think you are referring to the reverb. It’s a free reverb from Voxengo which has a vintage flavor for the vocals. It has never let me down, to tell you the truth.
As for the balance hanging a bit to the left, i used overheads drums which was convenient (less tracks), and maybe the toms are a bit to the left for the rhythm break.
As for the bass @redworks i think you’re right. It is a bit thin and weak. I will see if i can re-amp it.
Thanks for listening!
love it, nice vintage paning !
