Disconnecting the snare, especially in Metal, is like making a snare drum a eunuch. 
If a snare drum had ‘gonads’ it would be the snare itself. I don’t quite get how that’s an angrier sound, unless the snare drum is angry it got castrated.

If you listen to that album I think the snare sound is there, it’s just very badly tuned and miked.
I still don’t know what they were thinking…probably lets see how much of a turd we can sneak past our audience.
