Does anyone know of a plugin that can do pre-emphasis encoding? I know it’s incredibly outdated and doesn’t make any sense with today’s A/D converters, but I have a client insisting that his disc be encoded to reduce noise. I’ve got SOX for decoding on some discs I own with pre-emphasis, but I’m unaware of anyway to encode with it. I’ve tried to talk sense into this guy since most people just rip CD’s nowadays and don’t know how to decode it anyway, but he’s headstrong. Everyone’s gonna think his record is just really bright, but doesn’t iTunes know how to decode it if you tag it in the TOC of a disc?
Yes. Yes most DAWs can do it natively. What software options do you have available?
Is this for forensics or archive? TOC is usually decided on based upon the medium of the final deliverables.
By TOC I meant table of contents and the cue sheet. You know, FLAGS PRE. Here’s what I mean. We could be talking about the same thing, but I wasn’t sure.

I use Cockos Reaper pretty much exclusively, but I have a really old version of Cakewalk.
Ok. I see whats going on. I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve had to apply de-epmhasis/pre-emphasis processing in everything from telephone prompts, to radio broadcasts, to sound effects restoration, but that’s a whole different application specific way of using similar technology.
I don’t really know what to do with this project.
