Very interesting piece! I’ve never been a fan of that act, but I sure dug hearing Nile Rodgers’s guitar on Get Lucky… the man is a legend.

I’m struggling to see anything new here in terms of loudness.

As far as loudness goes, a summary of the article would be:

They used compression but didn’t hypercompress the mix, so the end result had a reasonable dynamic range.

I think the only ‘new’ thing about that, is that was 2013.
