Quite a story Paul! I guess this song is a ballad. You managed to pack a lot of imagery into 3 minutes! Improvised studio setup? (or back in your regular one?)
The tremolo guitars and slow strums make for a great effect, especially as the ‘intro’ brings us into the song. Your voice does seem a bit ‘edgy’, but it fits the expression of this song very well. I like the different voices too, the ‘spoken word’ at 2:10 is very cool.

Hey stan I had to physically match the tempo of the song on the downbeat strum. Many takes.
My winter Studio is vey minimal. Using a sm58 mic I 've had for all my life. Forgot the condenser 414. B’etween a sick wife and my daughter’s projects, minimal studio time. I will be in Texas until late April. take care bud
