Alan I actually thought of the keys thing, however I don’t have access to that. Only guitars. ha ha
You do have access: Organized Trio is free growling B3. I’m sure you can also find a free Tubescreamer emulator out there. I know that in a different thread the mighty Capt. Fiasco tried to get you set up with a guitar sim, did you ever get that going?
Hi Bob No I did not get any amp sims working. I am very limited on what I can do except play guitar and sing. Pretty pathetic I know. I will check those out. Have to get some kid involved with my studio stuf I can see that for sure
If you need help I will drag you there myself, kicking and screaming. It is a three step process:
- Download the plug.
- Place the .dll file (it will be the only one in the downloaded folder for the plug) into the plug in folder for your DAW (when you open the actual program file where you can see all the folders, not the recording GUI).
- Your DAW may Require you to scan for new plugs, but once you do that, the new plug will act just like an insert on any channel, like the compressor or limiter that came with the software. Probably a bunch of Youtube stuff to show you how it is done. Try finding a freeware fuzztone first, since you would probably need some type of midi keyboard to play the organ stuff properly.
There’s your homework for the weekend. When you get a minute on your laptop, go to Programs, then open that folder, then scroll down until you see the folder for your recording software and open the folder, you’ll see some sub folders, one of which will be labeled plugins. When you find the magic .dll file for your plug, you can usually just drag and drop it into that folder. Not as difficult as you may think. Man up, soldier.
This is a fun retro sounding song. The guitars are a little dull and lifeless sounding, but from what I read, it sounds like you don’t have many options for great guitar sounds at the moment. Would be interesting to hear this with a really good production. This is a really nice demo. Good job!
Hi Bob Love your avatar btw. I promise I will try this this evening. I am presently working 12 hour days building an apartment for my Texas stay here. Just finished the framing and am pulling pex tubing for the plumbing…then electrical…then drywall…etc. Tires an old man out. I hope some day you will lean on me for something. You are a saint.

Hi guy I am not presently set up for recording. this song was done last year. I noticed on soundcloud it was getting played quite a bit, so I posted it hear for a value check. It’s funny because it is played mostly in England and Egypt…ha ha I am going to mess with the sim stuff a bit to improve the guitars. Glad you liked it. Thank you

Just to butt in here (sorry) but I know for me it’s often helpful to get a step-by-step list of what to do with stuff like this. Something like:
- Go to taskbar at the bottom of the home screen
- Windows Explorer > Local Disk C: > Program Files > . . . . .
Plugins are tricky the first time and can cause trouble later on too, just saying.
Yeah, you are right, I didn’t remember the entire line, but I figured I could help out when the time came. You usually just have to get one free plug to work to figure out the sequence. I’m a wheezing geezer too, so I know if I could figure it out, he can too.
You know, you could always come to Florida and build my backyard studio…
Not a butt in bud. I see a homeless person I give him a fiver every time. You see an old geezer struggling, you lend a hand. same ting
