Honeymoon In Waco - I'd appreciate feedback!

Hi folks, it’s been a while since I’ve posted … each chapter of my project is time sensitive, typically 16 - 18 songs, none more than a minute (the reason is that each chapter needs to be less than 80 minutes (most of the time is taken by dialogue) to fit on a CD (I know, no one uses CDs any more - I still like them). The new project is called Honeymoon In Waco and, needless to say, this is the title track. Now that my last 40 songs or so have all been under a minute, I am starting to appreciate the short song genre.

Clever! Well done

I have a friend that did an album like that with songs that were 10-30 seconds each and it ended up being awesome. It reminds me of seeing a stand-up comic that just does one-liners. They are short, sweet, and to the point. I dig it!

Codger,
Thank you for the review! Now your song: I think it all sounds very good, but too short in my opinion, unless it’s a TV show theme song.

As he mentioned, these are intended to be super short like that. I can’t remember the name of that style, but I’ve heard it done in some really cool ways like that.

I know he said he intentionally makes the songs short. I was just stating my opinion; take it for what it’s worth. I don’t think many of us here will write a hit song, but how often does a song become a hit that is a minute or less in length (TV theme music might be an exception)? If Codger wants to write and record songs that are less than a minute long, I say “go for it”. It just sounds incomplete to my ears. It’s fine if people disagree with me. Though don’t forget this is the Bash This Recording forum…even though I think most people (that includes me) would rather hear compliments than criticism; even if constructive criticism can be helpful in the long run.
