Same deal here in Houston. We very rarely get snow, but even when the temps get below freezing (only slightly less rare) the whole state freaks out. The main problem is highway overpasses icing over, because they have only air beneath them instead of the ground, which will never get cold enough to truly freeze here. As James McMurty says in one of his songs, “It’s damn near as deadly as Texans on ice…” That’s no lie-- people here have NO idea how to drive in cold conditions!
Well up here we get 5 to 6 months of snow, but I used to live in the south of France on the Riviera and we had a few millimeters of snow once every ten years or so, and I can tell you it was utter panic on the roads…
Actually, I recently made a move to Decatur, but I’ve lived in Atlanta (all parts) most of my life.
Five or six months of snow here would be considered a disaster. Not sure if we’d survive…or learn to adapt fast.
