I haven’t seen anyone chatting about Boz’s new gate… with the irresistible name… Gatey Watey… so thought I’d mention it here : free download until the 7th… looks useful… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKmgKlvqsms
hmm…yes… nice name … He’s had “The Wall” - I would’ve thought the next logical step would be “The Door”.
I enjoyed the way he talked about it in the video in his atypical deadpan Boz-way…
and the graphics on it are rather gorgeously understated… heh…
I have a feeling his kids has something to do with the naming.
Yes, it looks cool and very functional. In the VST3 there are 8 presets that seem useful. I haven’t had the chance to put it to use yet, but the video was nice. His website must have taken a lot of hits because earlier today that link was near impossible to pull up and load. I was finally able to get through.
I didn’t like the “Vocal Gate Smooth” preset though. I found the settings worked much better (especially as a deBreather) with All Frequencies Mode, Range: -infinity, Attack: 25ms, Release: 140ms, Lookahead: 25ms, and Threshold: -21dB (YMMV). That’s just a quick and dirty first shot. I maybe could have played with the Frequency cutoff on the Low Frequencies Mode more.
This seems to be a similar concept to Joey Sturgis’ “The Tominator” plugin, with a couple more controls - is that correct @bozmillar ?
Thanks for the cool plugin, BTW! :beerbang:
ahem…
this is the one that’s coming next. Actually, I made this one first, then made a trimmed down version, which is gatey watey.
It’s a little bit similar but takes quite a different approach. Rather than a sweeping filter, this one uses a static filter. Each method has it’s advantages and disadvantages.
Huh - What a guess!
Prospective names for other upcoming products include “The Floor” (Bass plugin), “The Window” (Sidechain enabler), “The Skylight” (High Frequency Saturation) & “The Neighbourhood/ The Jonses” (Level-matched Mix referencing plugin).
The roof - reverb a variant or specific setting could also be the bathroom lol
The Toaster - a tool to add warmth.
Hahahaha
Been using gates watey for a while. It is a great plug. The Low and HP Filters are a welcome addition to a gate.
Gatey Watey is a real nice freebie. Thanks Boz.
I’ll have to give the big brother a spin.
