Hi there, anyone using a DAW midi controller with cubase 8.5? If which one
Hi ya,
Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol 61 Keyboard ( I like it but its expensive) and to get the most out of it you really need Native Instruments Komplete. But it ties in nicely with each other, i’m looking at NI machine 2 for some beat making and messing with that. Nektar keyboards look alright, but haven’t used them, im in the NI camp now.
I’m running a MAC , UAD Apollo, and Cubase 9 but only upgraded last night and 8.5 was solid , still all runs pretty smoothly on 9 so far.
Cheers
I work primarily in Nuendo now, using a System 5 now as my control surface (but I know that doesn’t help much as they are brutally expensive). I used Avid Artist stuff in the past. Worked great, as did Novation remote stuff. Actually, I used the Artist stuff with the Novation stuff but Novation has been pretty sloppy in keeping updates.
I also use the Kontrol 88 that @SoundCandy mentioned, but it doesn’t help you much with the DAW itself. If you really need a full range of tactile DAW to surface control, you’ll want to pursue a piano keyboard separately than the DAW controller.
Honestly, if you’re looking to stay low budget, and iPad is not a bad option for the DAW. If you’re looking to go high end, your options are the Avid System 5, the Nuage, and the S6.
Thanks, I love the look of the system 5 but it’s way over my price limits
