Here is another one I wrote with a more electronic influenced sound. Do you think the drop is loud enough or too loud? Does everything sound balanced? Thanks.
The guitar tone and playing are excellent, as is the overall melody of the song. It’s late, so I’m just using my IPad to listen, but the synth embellishments over the guitar in the refrain seem to be way over the top of the melodic backdrop. If that’s what you’re going for, more power to you, but I’m a little surprised that you would want to hide the great melody you have going on.
@StylesBitchley Thanks. I appreciate it. I wanted the synths and drums to be hard hitting, but perhaps I went overboard. I tried to remix it and brought the guitar up a bit. Does this sound any better? I don’t want the guitars to take over the song, but of course I want them to be heard. Maybe I need to check this on a few more systems. Thoughts on the new version?
I like this mix better overall, but to be more accurate in my comments, it’s the synth pattern that begins at 1:15, and then again near the end of the song. The sequence is very cool, but it is very dry and prominent at a point where the guitar is emphasizing a change in the melody, so it really sticks out. Again, if that’s exactly what you’re going for, stick to your guns. What I would probably try is to pan each little synth segment harder left, then right, at a lower volume with just a slight reverb tail so it still jars you a bit, but acts as kind of a call and response element to the guitar carrying the melody.
Please keep in mind, I’m no expert on EDM, so I’m hearing it more like a fusion song, which would be different from what you’re hearing, and it is just a different choice as to what should be the focus of the song during that section. It’s a very nice track either way.
