I think i did a pretty descent mix but
didn’t work a lot on it because of the lack of emotion on the song.
The record is really cool, well made, except for the choice of snare (inappropriate for me,
had to reinforce it) . The song is a classic 90’s rock, i’m ok with it.
The fact is that it has been too much quantized and edited ( ok i used the tuned vocals tracks).
I wish i had a “humanize” button in my daw for the audio tracks.
I’m not a pro at all, so i have to enjoy this kind of contest to go through with it.
In fact i decided not to post my work, but finally i did. Have probably no chance to win, and
that’s not a problem.
It is not a critic, you guys are awesome and the idea of contest is always welcome, it is just a comment.
I find mix competitions give me the ability to put my stank on something…be experimental. Let the other people try to make something that will fit into some common acceptance of noise. Yes, I walk this path alone. Ha!
One thing I gain from these things is that it solidifies that doing this, for a living, would require a lot of patience/determination to push through someone elses’ song(s). I do not have the mental compacity to do repetitive tasks that I have no interests in, for very long.

A big thing i find with this type of contest is it gives me different challenges than i have when doing my regular work. It also helps me to stop and consider what areas i am lacking in and what are some important things i need to work on. And as a bonus I always have a chance of being the random winner.

The whole point of the community here is to help each other with what we hear,
