This one has been bashed @ RR and the band just signed off on the mix but I thought I’d post it here as a bit of a test… Oh, and feel free to bash!
Hard to give it a fair bashing when I’m listening from a laptop, but I sure like what I’m hearing. Digging the vocals, the guitar tone, how well the bass translates on these dinky laptop speakers. Killer job!!
How were the guitars tracked? If you went DI, did you have an amp in the room as well? How’d you get that feedback at 1:25?
Thanks Bryan, good to hear it translates. The band tracked that feedback section as 2 live takes with an extra guitar overdub. I added in some reverse cymbal and ‘riser’ sounds for the mix. The intro was actually the thing that took up most of the time in the mix revisions!
Hi Boz - the guitars were tracked with both a live amp and a DI for most of the tracks, so feedback came from the live amp. Much of the time I used the printed amp tone, but sometimes I’d use the DI and re-amp just to get some variation, or to change up a tone for a different section. The band are pretty happy to let me use my discretion in that regard.
Doesn’t seem to be working… Did you remove the mp3???
aw crap! That’s my bad. I forgot to move it when I switched servers. Standby
ok, no worries.
Fixed it
works now
I think you also forgot to transfer the images of the other threads.
No big deal, but I was checking cptfiasco’s post on http://indierecordingdepot.com/t/mobile-site-view-enhancement-wishes/48/2 and the images are gone (just tried to browse to that thread while typing, really cool!)
for whatever reason, I was expecting Ted Nugent to start singing into that feedback intro lol I had a flashback to being 12 again lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS7NIMbDnD4
