UPDATED! New "Special" Meat'n'Potatoes Rocker

After Stan mentioned the Lynard Skynard piano thing, I went back to give it another listen and I too noticed the keys. I like the subtlety of it.

Another thing that really struck me listening to this song again is how great the drums sound ! They sound so full and natural but they have a real big snap to them. There’s something that I really like about the way the drums and bass are working together to drive the song. It’s like a great 70’s recording. Natural, big and impactful drums. I’m assuming that the drummer is the same one you’ve been working with on your recent recordings, correct?

Cool, good to know I’m not going crazy. :slightly_smiling_face:

I believe I heard it on the first pass, then had to go back to that part and listen for it again.

I understand the value of barely noticeable parts underneath. The ears/brain hears it even if we’re not conscious it’s there. A type of psycho-acoustics perhaps. I’d vote for just a little more prominence though, per your explanation. Even if you just make a riff or a few seconds poke out more, it will call attention to it and be fun.

Thanks mate, yes it is the same drummer on this whole album - he’s great!… Here is what the raw drums sounded like, so there is a little massaging going on in the mix:

Yes, he is great and you did a great job mixing those drums too! You’re a perfect team.

ColdRoomStudio,
This sure sounds different than the orchestral song! Listening to the newer mix: strong vocals and guitar riffs & playing! The intro, verse, and chorus work best for me: excellent. Anything else is quite good also. Audio quality is very good. No gripes. I think it is radio worthy.
