My favourite instrumental album is Jeff Beck’s Wired. I used to mistake Jan Hammer’s synth sounds with Jeff Beck’s guitar soloing/ licks. There are times that Eddie Van Halen’s guitar playing sounds like Jan Hammer’s synth/ keyboard playing. In particular, Eddie’s guitar soloing on the album Fair Warning.

One of the best live shows I ever saw was Jan Hammer. It was a power trio with him playing the synth on a strap through a Marshall stack. They played their Black Sheep record, and threw in some Hendrix, even getting the feedback going. I was floored for two weeks after that one.
