Another instrumental!

Nice tune, Ingo! Very cruisy… you have some nice sounds and rhythms happening. I think the guitar solo is good, although it gets a little lengthy for my taste, and the “tangy” sounding notes might be a bit adventurous for this context.

For me, I’m always looking for musical hooks. The composition overall is a bit meandering. I’d like to hear a bit more “theme and variation”, if that makes sense.

Nice work!

Thank you @ColdRoomStudio for your encouragement and good criticism! I guess there’s a fine line between cruising and meandering.

Unfortunately the universe conspired to put a hold on that particular tune for a number of reasons. The biggest of which being some underlying noise issues on her vocal recordings due to a crappy recording set up, which meant I just couldn’t take them to the level they needed to be.
I actually ended up sending her another interface and headphone amp, to help her out, and she’s down to re-track vocals whenever. But in the meantime I’d decided the tune was way too slow, and a lot of the melodies were just a bit too cheesy, so I basically started rewriting from the ground up. Which then lead me to go splash out on a fancy new wavetable synth (Serum), to try and get some of the retro Juno sounds I was looking for, which in turn quickly lead me to discover my old PC simply wasn’t up to the task of running multiple instances of Serum on top of an already dense project without massive buffering issues and underruns.
So to make a long story even longer, I’ve basically been building a brand new system from the ground up.
So thankfully now that the new computer is up and running, I just have to sit down with Ariana to do some fine-tuning on the lyrics so she can go ahead and re-track some fresh vocals, and we should be back on track.

Yeah, that would be cool. Once I get this one buttoned up I’ll have to approach her about something new, maybe a bit more guitar based.

That’s always rough but probably inevitable for all of us in a tech driven world. And the good news is once you get it all dialed in your art will benefit so it’s surely worth the hassle. And it’s always better than what we were limited to back in the day.

:+1: I like that; will look forward to it. Don’t forget the pop/rap-rock hybrid suggestion; it’s like writing yourself a check at this point in time.

Yep 100%, there’s nothing that will kill the creative process stone-dead faster than when your DAW starts glitching out. Should have CPU and memory to burn now so hopefully no such issues moving forward.

Haha, you know they’ve completely phased out cheques here in Australia now. I hear what you’re saying though, definitely worth exploring :+1:

Hmmm, how about buried in bitcoin? (And here I had just about figured out how to balance my check book) :astonished:
