I’d like to formally rescind this comment. Afterwards, I went looking for an example of what I thought I wanted to hear:
It’s been years since I’ve heard that song, and I was/am totally shocked to hear that vocal. It is bone-freaking-DRY!
After spending more time with “Perfect Diamond” and upon closer listening in my studio, my hat is off to both of you fellas - top notch song-writing and performances - AND astounding mixing/production on this as @Jerze said. Congrats!
Thanks Jerze - I still consider myself very much a student of mixing. That said, I’m quite happy with how this turned out. As we all well know, the biggest boon to a good mix is a great tune and some killer performances… from that point, it’s all about not stuffing it up!
Yeah, JT was one of the refs @StylesBitchley Bob gave me for the intro part. There is actually a little bit of room reverb on the mix vocals at the beginning, but it’s very tight and short.
