Glad you liked it... since seeing that interview Cowell has gone to the top of my "cool blokes" list with Reverend Billy and Ian Anderson. As we learned from the interview, his job involves knowing when to speak and when to shut up.
I will post one more video - in the first video we heard the worst day of his life was when he learned about the death of his father...
And I suspect this is what "plugs him in" in the following video. He cannot even speak, but has gone to a far-away place in himself - probably freaking out a bit from knowing where he is and that the cameras are on him. You'll notice how after the song has finished, the woman seeks his direction but he basically tells her that she is on her own, through his body language. She sees that he is upset and does not know why. I think she's afraid that he is angry and she is very hesitant in making her position known. It's as if she's afraid to say something in case Simon thinks it's "wrong".
