I do think that there is a bit of a hole in the purpose behind the forum though. I don't think it's possible to expect people to start conversations when there isn't anything to start a conversation about.
This site absolutely must provide something beyond a place to discuss stuff. All of us on here enjoy the topic of conversation, but the moment the conversation runs dry, there's nothing drawing people to the forum. It's like having a bag of really good fresh tortilla chips, but no salsa. We all agree the chips are good, but in the end, if you aren't using the chips to dip into something, the chips lose their purpose.
I can't stress enough the importance of having a more fundamental purpose to this forum, and then delivering on that purpose. If the fundamental purpose is to give people a place to chat, then I don't think you can expect much expansion from what we have now.
It's imperative that this site provides something that compels people to come back and talk about it. The forum should be here to support that, but it can't be the main feature. A forum is not a feature, it's an expectation.
If the purpose is to provide something where people who are new to recording can come and learn, then providing that thing should be the only priority right now. Once that is done, then you can focus on drawing people to it. It doesn't even have to be finished, but it does have to be something. You have a whole bunch of people here that would love to help build that something, but we don't know what that something is, so we're kind of sitting here twiddling our thumbs hoping we don't have to witness another forum death.
